DAVACO Introduces Merchandising Competition at Fashion Group International's Dallas Career Day
Competition encourages students to gain "real-world" experience

Dallas, TX (March 19, 2007) – DAVACO, Inc., the national leading provider of retail services, announced today that the company is sponsoring the first ever Excellence in Merchandising Competition to be held in collaboration with the Fashion Group International and the organization’s annual Career Day. The merchandising competition, which is open to all students participating in the FGI Dallas Career Day, is designed to recognize outstanding performance by students in merchandising, marketing, branding and promotion at the retail level. The winners will be announced at FGI’s Career Day 2007 Style Symposium, which will be held on Friday, April 20th in Dallas, Texas at the Dallas World Trade Center.

"In partnership with FGI, university professors and our own DAVACO merchandising team, we have designed a competition that truly reflects the roles and responsibilities of a professional merchandiser and gives each student the opportunity to identify and develop a plan to overcome brand challenges," said Shelly Vandeven, senior vice president of marketing, DAVACO, Inc.  "We support the professional development of tomorrow’s retail talent and look forward to recognizing individual achievements with scholarship awards and possible internship opportunities."

Fashion Group International Dallas Career Day is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the country.  Career Day draws 1,100 students and faculty members from 40 colleges and universities across 14 states.  This year FGI’s Dallas Career Day proudly celebrates its 39th consecutive year. 

"We are pleased to participate with DAVACO and FGI," said Terri Speiser, president of sales, Kenneth Cole Reaction.  "The multi-faceted assignment provides students with the opportunity to act as a merchandise coordinator for the Kenneth Cole Reaction brand, thus making a store visit, providing feedback and identifying opportunities to bring greater results based on varying factors found in each individual door."

All entries for the Merchandising Award of Excellence must be received on or before 4 p.m. on March 29, 2007. Winners must be present at the Fashion Group International Career Day Awards Ceremony to win. First, second and third place recognition, which includes educational scholarships, will be awarded.
